/Kitnay Jahaan Aur Bhi Hain: An Exploration of Grief, Memory& Dreaming
Description
Translated from Urdu as “there are many other worlds beyond,” this project is the story of 18-year-old Insiya Affan navigating a spiral of grief after losing her Abbu in a mugging incident in Karachi. In her survival’s guilt, she dreams. As Insiya embarks on a journey to rediscover lost memories of home, family, and the city, she reinterprets her emotions through the ‘dreamscape’ triggered by the loss. She speaks to the viewers through the illustrated short story, poster illustrations, journals, zines, and traditionally created artifacts, traversing across her past, middle, and present, and highlights the impact of memories in taking the reins of your life. Will she leave after all this, or will she choose to stay? Would you?
